Flood Forecasting and Warning (E2E-EWS-FF) Community

What is this Community of Practice about?

Flooding is one of the most devastating natural hazards, affecting millions of people and causing significant economic losses each year. Effective flood forecasting and warning systems (End-to-End Early Warning Systems for Floods) are critical for minimizing impacts and enhancing resilience.

This Community of Practice serves as a collaborative space for professionals working on flood forecasting, warning, and early action. By fostering knowledge exchange and strengthening technical capacity, we aim to improve flood early warning systems and ensure timely, actionable information reaches those at risk.

What do we do together?

Through this online platform, we facilitate:

  • Sharing best practices, tools, and methodologies for flood forecasting and warning.
  • Discussing innovations in hydrometeorological modeling, remote sensing, and data integration.
  • Discussing all links in the flood forecasting value chain, from observations, to modeling, to warning generation and action.
  • Organizing webinars, training sessions, and expert discussions on flood forecasting and flood risk management.
  • Showcasing case studies and lessons learned from different regions.
  • Strengthening links between forecast producers and users to improve decision-making.

Who can join?

This community welcomes hydrologists, meteorologists, disaster risk managers, emergency responders, policymakers, and anyone working on flood forecasting and warning systems. Whether you are involved in research, operations, or decision-making, we invite you to join us in improving flood preparedness worldwide.
